INVASION! THE MUSICAL

SET FOR LIMITED RUN AT HUDSON BACKSTAGE THEATRE
SIX WEEKS ONLY!

PERFORMANCES BEGIN AUGUST 17

Flying Pig Productions, Ben Giroux, Gabriel Oliva and Aaron Matijasic, Artistic Directors, has announced its inaugural production, the world premiere of Invasion! The Musical. With one lower-priced preview performance on Friday, August 17, the show will open on Saturday, August 18 at 8pm. Invasion! The Musical will play a strictly limited engagement through Sunday, September 23.

Invasion! The Musical, with book and lyrics by Aaron Matijasic and music by Billy Thompson, is a provocative satire reminiscent of Little Shop of Horrors and The Rocky Horror Show, with a dash of “South Park” and a spritz of Mel Brooks thrown in. On a hot summer night in 1952, the residents of Tucker County, New Mexico are at a moral crossroads. Suddenly, aliens attack! Faced with their impending doom, the townsfolk seize the opportunity to do and say all the things they’ve been keeping bottled up inside. As one would expect, all hell breaks loose. Themes of discrimination, social immorality and political hypocrisy are skewered without mercy. [Strong language and adult themes; parents strongly cautioned.]

The cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Cory Bretch, Jenn Brown, Scott Burman, Danielle Faitelson, Matt Falber, Kate Feld, Nicole Gemma, Ben Giroux, Lindsey Grubbs, Will Harris, Alexandra Holtzman, Vanessa Hurd, Jessica Kaplan, Ian Littleworth, Aaron Matijasic, Gabriel Oliva, Emily Pennington, Carl Petrillo, Al Rahn, Whitney Vigil, Jenny Weaver and Donald Webber, Jr.

Directed by Aaron Matijasic and Billy Thompson, the design team for Invasion! The Musical includes Adam Blumenthal (set), Dan O’Brien (lighting), Jesse Laks (sound) and Jillian Batherson (costumes and make-up). Musical direction is by Billy Thompson (with assistant Carl Petrillo), and choreography is by Sally Fuscoe and Kelly Proctor. The production stage manager is Tara Potthoff, and executive producers are Ben Giroux and Gabriel Oliva.

The regular performance schedule is Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00, and Sunday evenings at 7:00. Tickets for the preview performance on Friday 8/17 at 8pm are $10, and tickets for all regular performances (beginning Saturday 8/18) are $25. There is also a student price of $20 with valid student I.D. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased by visiting the production’s website at www.InvasionTheMusical.com or by calling (323) 960-7612.

The Hudson Backstage Theatre is located at 6539 Santa Monica Boulevard (on Theatre Row), in Hollywood. Both street and valet parking are available.

The Exclusive Benefit Gala for Invasion! The Musical was a huge success. Held on July 15th, 2007 at the Lyric Theatre in Hollywood, the gala helped raise money for Invasion’s professional six-week run at the Hudson Theatre on Theatre Row in Hollywood.

Friends, Family, and Industry Colleagues gathered to watch sneak-peak performances of The I Love You Song, Albuquerque, and Lie Dee Die. An evening of food, laughter, and fun turned out to be a fantastic fund-raiser. Thank you to all who attended.

Invasion! The Musical is still seeking financial contributions. If you are interested in donating or investing in the show, please contact the Executive Producers.
